Empowering Communities

Promote and facilitate livelihood, increase local ownership, and encourage duplication to improve the living conditions of local communities and take pressure off natural resources.

  • Support 200 poachers and forest users in organic vegetable production around the protected area.
  • Engage 100 poachers and forest users on livestock farming around the protected area.
  • Two food and cash crop value chains will be developed, analysed, and supported in communities adjacent to the protected area.
  • Provide 20 scholarships to reformed poachers in the protected area to engage in vocational training.

ECoDAs focus on environmental education, restoration of fragile ecosystems, conservation of at-risk flora and fauna species, and strengthening communities’ livelihoods through income and economic development opportunities.
